this is for the life of me ❧
my name’s jaxyn, as you can probably tell. i’m a fifteen-year-old writer who loves crafting stories, reading novels, scribbling poems, and journaling whenever i can. when i’m not doing any of those things, i’m either 1) somewhere outdoors, enjoying the nature around my home in the appalachian foothills, 2) being forced to interact with people, or 3) writing up posts for this publication.
what you can expect on for the life of me are weekly posts that are often late. i try to be flexible with my schedule and yet i still feel guilty for posting inconsistently.
about once a month, i try to write up a poem or two for my poetry section. i’ve always loved expressing myself through the art of poetry and i hope you’ll find the random thoughts overflowing from my brain enjoyable.
my most frequent type of posts are life posts, which are this publication’s roots — they’re like little journal entries describing things that are happening or have happened in my life and my thoughts on them. they used to be the sole focus on my blog and the most popular topic until the poems came along.
i also send out musings posts, which are pretty self-explanatory. i take something on my mind and i simply muse about it. as a very deep thinker, i find this quite relaxing, though frustrating at times. most of my musings are fairly deep, so they often don’t receive as much attention as my other posts, but that’s okay. they’re really more like rants than musings anyway.
on the last week of every month, i post about one of my absolute favorite things in the world: books. i make a little recap of all the books i read in that month then i review them for your enjoyment. this is a fairly new part of for the life of me, but thankfully, my audience is full of fellow book nerds who like to hear what i think of the books i read.
if you wish to become acquainted with each of these post categories, i’d recommend heading over to the archive and checking out the top posts. that’ll introduce you to what my subscribers have deemed the best of for the life of me and i kind of agree with them (mostly).
what’s in it for you?
for the life of me isn’t like a lot of the other substack publications out there. i don’t have much advice to offer. nothing i post is that life changing. i just write about my life for your entertainment and my mental health. if you personally think my writing is for you, that’s amazing. i’d love to have you tag along on this chaotic journey. but if not, that’s okay. personal stuff like this isn’t for everyone and i respect that.
besides my posts, however, i also have a subscriber chat, which i’ve been trying to put to use lately. i want to really make for the life of me a community of deep thinkers and creatives. so if you’re thinking about subscribing, know that you’ll get to meet some amazing people in the subscriber chat. we have a blast over there and would love to have you :).
for the life of me has been such a fun project for me so far. it’s given me a sense of belonging and validation, knowing that some people out there really do appreciate my writing. it’s given me the opportunity of a lifetime that i will forever be grateful for. if you want to join me as i experience the strange, mysterious, insane thing known as life, know that i would love to have you, your subscription would truly mean the world to me. if not, thanks for stopping by anyway :).
much love <3
