Jack, I look forward to reading your posts. I’m not looking for profound answers or “”how tos”, I just enjoy your writing style and the chance to get to know you better. You truly have a gift! Please continue to share it!
wow. thank you for writing this and having the courage to share it, jack! i haven't been here the entire time, but i was one of the earlier people and it's been so much fun to be along.
whoaa this was a heavy read, and I enjoyed it so much. I would like to say that although I'm barely ever on Substack, (actually like the only reason I stay is for your posts) I for one very much enjoy your writing style. And I honestly don't care if the posts have a life lesson or a takeaway either, and I don't think I should, either, because that's probably what's been keeping me back from posting stuff of my own. I don't have a story to share, or anything really cool or important to share, and my schedule would be like a skipping stone- bouncing up and down only to sink until picked up again. But if you're doing it, managing it, however shakily you say, then maybe I could too! Anyways... that was a roundabout way of saying you're inspiring to me :D
Congrats on a year of blogging, Jack! That's an awesome accomplishment! I always enjoy your honesty and how real you are with what you write about. It's really encouraging! Hope you have another awesome year of blogging!
I needed this, Jack! I've only been on Substack for about two months and I've already seen some of the same things you saw in your first few months on Substack. I'm glad you wrote this post because it's so encouraging and helps me know what I should expect in my first year on Substack/these coming months.
You put into words what I have been feeling for a while now. Especially losing your voice and feeling like you have to tailor your post to sound a certain way. I have a ton of work in drafts too that I don't have the courage to post. I enjoy reading your work, and I don't care that it isn't 'useful' in the sense that you described. I enjoy it because you have a unique talent for making everyday experiences exciting. You do a really great job! I always say I would write whether or not people read. I appreciate the people who read, but sometimes it feels good to write just for me, with no other eyes to judge or comment, and that's okay too.
so glad i could help you discover things i wish i knew when i started ❤️you’re off to a great start and even if things get slow, you can only climb higher. best of luck, fellow substacker 🙃
